Power Plus Pumps®

http://www.PowerPlusPumps.com use "Super-E Premium Efficient" single phase Baldor motors built to our specifications to deliver more power at fewer amps than standard motors. These energy-efficient motors feature larger diameter copper wire, better insulation, and ISR windings to accomplish higher electrical efficiencies. They cost more, weigh more, and are warranted by Baldor for 3 years instead of their normal 1 year warranty. They are featured in Baldor's catalog, which says these "Super-E Premium Efficient" motors "meet or exceed the rebate levels suggested by the Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) and followed by most utilities".

As an example, at 115 volts, the 1/4 HP Power Plus Pump uses 2.5 amps, the 1/3 HP 3.2 amps, the 3/4 HP 6.8 amps, and the 1 HP 8.5 amps. These pumps are used when the customer needs a constant higher HP because of all the equipment they use, resulting in higher Total Dynamic Head or water flow resistance. The Power Plus Pumps provide a constant HP, but with some of the most energy efficient pumps possible.

For instance, the 2-speed 230 volt http://www.BestPondPump.com at 2 HP on high uses 8.5 amps, and at 1/4 HP on low uses 2.8 amps. So the 1/4 HP Best Pond Pump's Low 2.8 amps is a great savings compared to the High setting's 8.5 amps, but it is no where near as efficient as the 1/4 HP Power Plus Pump's 1.25 amps (230 volts). In other words, the Power Plus Pump's savings over the 2-speed low setting is a 55% savings. So this would be a better choice if the customer does not need the higher HP of the 2-speed motor.

Another example is the High HP usage for the 3/4 HP 2-speed pump, which is 8.8 amps at 115 volts. The 3/4 HP Power Plus Pump uses 6.8 amps at the same HP for a savings of 23% over the 2-speed High setting. So the Power Plus Pump offers a great savings when the consumer is going to use the 2-speed pump's High HP setting only.
